Eadweard Muybridge : moving on

Kingston is celebrating the centenary of the death of Eadweard Muybridge throughout 2004 with a series of exciting events. The Penny School Gallery is participating and will be organising an Exhibition and one day Symposium.

EXHIBITION Penny School Gallery : 13th October - 4th December

Co-curated by Rosemary Williams, Penny School Gallery and Cheryl Smith, Kingston Museum
• Works of Muybridge will include selected photographs, glass slides, discs, replica zoopraxiscope (which works) and facsimile of press clippings.
• Selection of works by contemporary artists

SYMPOSIUM 13th November
Venue : The new Kingston College Theatre, Kingston College, Kingston Hall Rd.
The Symposium being organised in conjunction with the Penny School Gallery, Kingston Museum and the Historical section of The Royal Photographic Society. Eminent speakers will be exploring and discussing Muybridge’s works and life. There will also be re-enactment of the technical problems encountered when he first made his now famous Palo Alto series of photographs
